Samara Weaving was born on February 23, 1992 in Adelaide, South Australia, Australia, but spent the years after that moving around from Singapore, Fiji, Indonesia, and back to Australia with her family. During that time, she attended grade school in Jakarta, Indonesia, eventually going to Pittwater House School in Australia in 2004 prior to then joining the Canberra Girls’ Grammar School. With a life of such hectic moving around, it should come as no surprise that the stunning blonde actress spent much time along the way performing in short films, dance and stage shows, and even with the Singapore Dance Company and Canberra Youth Theatre.

Obviously, boasting a resume such as that, it was only a matter of time before Samara landed an official acting role in television. In 2008, she was cast as Kirsten Mulroney on the BBC series “Out of the Blue.” While it only technically ran for a season, the season consisted of 129 episodes, with Samara appearing in 48 of them. That kind of exposure led to her next big gig as Indi Walker on the Australian soap opera “Home and Away,” a series in which she would star in over 300 episodes. She initially appeared for five weeks in a recurring capacity, but then reprised the role the following year after producers brought her and her on-screen family back as part of the main cast. She relocated from Canberra to Sydney for filming. For her portrayal of Indi, Samara received a nomination for the Audience Choice Award for Best Female Performance in a Television Drama at the 1st AACTA Awards in 2012. During a short production break in 2013, Samara started looking for the right agent; her goal being to eventually land roles internationally. She was rumored to be in various US meetings, and told the Canberra Times in July 2013 that “nothing is sort of set in stone but it’s all kind of exciting. I really respect versatile actors so I’d really like to throw myself in the deep end. I’ve been thinking about doing comedy a lot lately so it would be cool to be involved in a really well-written, well-produced comedy.” A couple of weeks later, Weaving confirmed that she had filmed her last scenes for Home and Away. The actress felt that with the show’s international success, it was the right time to pursue new roles. With Home & Away having a good track record of helping actors and actresses starting an international career, Samara explained in interviews that she looked forward to joining past co-stars at the other side of the planet. “There’s a few of them over there doing really, really well and it’s going to be fun having a bit of a reunion with the old gang.”

Even with all the success brought by her roles in Home & away, family connections are never a bad thing. After leaving “Home and Away” in 2013, Samara landed her first feature role in “Mystery Road,” a film which starred her celebrity uncle Hugo Weaving. From here, she went on to star in the 2015 TV movie “Squirrel Boy” and followed that up in a big way with a major role in 2015’s “Monster Trucks” alongside veteran actors such as Rob Lowe and Danny Glover. She also had a recurring role as Heather in the first season of Ash vs Evil Dead in 2015. In 2016, Weaving appeared in the action comedy Monster Trucks as Brianne – a role she was cast in during her first trip to Los Angeles back in 2014.

2017 then became the biggest year of Samara’s international career so far. October and November brought on a total of four career premieres for the Aussie: the premiere of television show SMILF, as well as the films Mayhem, The Babysitter and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. The latter went on to be a huge success, landing several nominations at every big award show there is. With the film being up for awards such as “Best Picture” and “Best Ensemble”, Samara was invited for all the big award shows – such as the SAG awards, Critics’ Choice, Golden Globes and the Oscars.

A side from acting, Samara has taken on some modeling work. In 2012, she began modelling for Australian underwear brand Bonds. During the company’s first 2014 campaign, she appeared alongside surfer Owen Wright, and the campaign became a big hit. In 2017, she appeared in the music video for Charlie Puth’s song “Attention”.

In 2018, Samara will appear in the Picnic at Hanging Rock miniseries, alongside Natalie Dormer and Yael Stone.
