Beauty Profile:

As a Pisces, Samara supposedly spends much time staring off into space, daydreaming of love and happiness. It’s not necessarily all lace and butterflies, though. There’s more to this moony and Mutable Water Sign than daydreams. Just because Pisces are so flexible and chameleon-like, so fluid and wistful, does NOT mean they’re wishy-washy — leave that to Libra! Within each Pisces, there lies a resolute optimism, a nearly psychic intuition and a fertile imagination that allows them to appreciate the mysteries of life.

When it comes to physical beauty, they are unconventional, a risk-taker motivated by subconscious visions and ethereal longings. Not one to follow trends, they strike out on their own in defense of their independent spirit. They loathe conformity, but despite their rebellion, people can’t help but be attracted to them!

When they decide to pamper themselves, pedicures are definitely in order. They are a deserved indulgence that draw attention to Pisces’ beautiful feet. Lily-tinged scents keep them in a romantic mood. Their beauty comes from their open heart, their belief in the goodness of others, their sympathetic nature and the way they never shy away from saying how they feel.

Career Profile:

The emotional, dreamy Pisces are forever trying to balance their need for accomplishment with their desire to live inside their head. Surveying the dreamscape is great fun for the visionary of the Zodiac, a kind soul whose visits to mystical netherworlds provide valuable clues on how to help people here on Earth. Although sensible, Pisceans aren’t as practical as other folks and much prefer the life of artist, writer or musician — a “rolling stone,” as Bob Dylan put it. Doing what feels good is of paramount importance to the Fish, and if this occurs in the context of feeling loved and needed, all the better.

Consumed with their pursuits, Pisceans tend to feel things more intensely than most, a quality which is aided by their keen intuition. Sometimes this can be a bit overwhelming, but the idealistic Fish wouldn’t have it any other way. Serving and helping others is their raison d’etre, and they enjoy sharing their empathetic tendencies along the way. Pisceans tend to be artistically blessed as well and enjoy using the world as their muse.

A desire to assist both artistic and humanitarian causes is exactly what the Fish crave. Advocating for the National Endowment for the Arts while extolling the virtues of anti-land mine campaigns would be a dream life for many a Pisces. If they could play their guitar or recite poetry at rallies, even better. The Achilles heel of Pisceans may be their tendency to dally in a dream state much too long. A reality check every now and again can be helpful.

The Pisces office is likely to be soothing, an amalgam of soft couches and velvet drapes along with a mahogany bar replete with snifters for sherry and port. When the Fish steps outside, it should be into a car with driver, since Pisceans would much rather dream than drive. The first stop will probably be a (what else?) seafood restaurant, where the Fish can meet with colleagues while enjoying a savory feast.

Pisceans are well suited as veterinarians, biologists, artists, doctors, musicians, psychologists and mediums.

Fashion

The Fish likes to be able to flow in and out of clothing with ease. Most at home barefoot, in long, flowing skirts, they are most in tune with the world around them when their clothing is comfortable to the point of nonexistence. Clothes are, in fact, a social construct. They know they can’t wander about naked, though, so they go to bargain stores and thrift shops to get theirs. If they had it their way, they would probably go about in a bathing suit all day, throwing on a plastic bag or two when it got cold. They’re flexible, though. If they buy a power suit and wear it like they mean it, they will eventually grow into it. Once they get past the hang-up of having something on their feet, they’re prone to buying tons of shoes, so at least their toes can have some variety in their prison.

Friendship

They may seem to be wandering about in their own little world sometimes, but Pisces is one of the most caring friends you’ll ever have. This Water Sign has emotions to spare, so prepare yourself for long evenings of heart-to-heart talks with your Pisces pal. This friend will truly want to know the real you, and they’ll probably be able to pick up on how you’re feeling no matter what you tell them. They’re a great friend when you’re in need. If nothing else, they’ll have an open ear for your troubles and a handy box of tissues for your tears. Watch out, though. Pisces can be easily manipulated, and their feelings can be hurt by the slightest misguided comment from a friend’s mouth. What they need is for you, as their friend, to reassure them and help them past their insecurities. They will always be open with their emotions, so the biggest favor you can do for them is return that trust by revealing yourself. You’ll never be bored with your creative Pisces buddy if you just keep an open mind and let them whisk you away into their world for a while. (Sounds like Samara would make for an amazing friend if this is true – and we have no doubt she is!)

Karma

Pisces is called the Poet of the Zodiac for its dreamy, impressionistic view of the world, its romantic, idealistic ways and desires. As ruled by Neptune, the Planet of Illusion, those born under the Pisces influence tend to live inside their own minds a great deal of the time and have a largely subjective point of view. Pisces is deeply emotional and intuitive, often even psychic; it is a loving, giving and rather passive Sign with a real sense of the mystical side of life. Pisces has tremendous resources of empathy and compassion for others; the trouble is, with so much trouble remaining objective, Pisces may give far too much of itself to someone who is simply playing on its sympathy. This is Pisces’s first Karmic task: To erect solid boundaries as a prevention against allowing all personal energy to be drained by serving others’ needs, filling up others’ voids and playing into others’ sob stories.

Pisces’s gift of connection is both a blessing and a curse; on one hand, it is the gift that makes this Sign such a noble, nurturing friend and lover, but on the other hand it gives Pisces a certain malleability of persona that is easily taken advantage of. Others may see Pisces as a pushover or a doormat, since this Sign tends to submit so readily to another’s power or point of view. Pisces may also be overly dependent on others for guidance, structure or a sense of stability. Pisces must learn to ground itself — and this is no small task for such a deeply emotional Sign.

Pisces is so emotional, in fact, that it can tend toward depression or fatalism; the weight of the world can be too much to bear for someone so sensitive. Many Pisces turn to escapist pursuits as a result; daydreaming is one rather innocuous form of escapism and creating works of art is quite a positive form, but Neptune also rules more powerful and destructive escapist pursuits like addiction, delusion and deception. In short, Neptune rules the intangible, so Pisces must connect with the tangible in order to maintain a healthy balance.

Pisces’s tendency toward depression is also based on its unwillingness to dwell in the mundane world. Things like paying bills on time, keeping appointments and maintaining a full-time job can overwhelm Pisces as they work against its basic nature. Pisces doesn’t exist on a linear plane of ticking clocks and scheduled activities; this Sign is far more free-form than that. Thus, Pisces tends to be impractical, which can lead to real trouble with bosses, bill collectors and others who expect Pisces to follow their rules. It is impossible never to enter the mundane world; Pisces must learn to navigate its way safely and effectively through the maze of day-to-day experience and to set aside time in which to indulge its ethereal nature. This is a rather tall order, but need not be overly daunting; Pisces lends so much help to others, it can feel good about asking for help in return. Gemini can teach Pisces to take a less emotional, more intellectual view of people and situations; this will help Pisces decide which pleas are deserving of attention and which are merely sob stories to be ignored. Virgo can help Pisces learn to be detailed and efficient, and enthusiastic Sagittarius can help Pisces learn to turn all that abstract emotionalism into optimism and adventure.

Sun Sign

Pisces is the twelfth Sign of the Zodiac, and it is also the final Sign in the Zodiacal cycle. Hence, this Sign brings together many of the characteristics of the eleven Signs that have come before it. Pisceans, however, are happiest keeping many of these qualities under wraps. These folks are selfless, spiritual and very focused on their inner journey. They also place great weight on what they are feeling. Yes, feelings define Pisceans, and it’s not uncommon for them to feel their own burdens (and joys) as well as those of others. The intuition of the Pisces-born is highly-evolved. Many people associate Pisceans with dreams and secrets, and it’s a fair association, since those born under this Sign feel comfortable in an illusory world.

It’s a pair of Fish that represents Pisceans, a symbol which prompts others to suggest that these people ‘go with the flow’ and ‘don’t make waves.’ Both of these labels are true, since Pisceans are fluid and easy-going, in keeping with the Mutable Quality assigned to this Sign. The fact that two fish (as opposed to one) represent the members of this Sign also speaks to the duality of Pisceans, their yin and yang sensibility. Pisceans alternate between reality and non-reality in keeping with their introspective natures; their voyage between consciousness and an unconscious dream state says much about their intuitive, almost psychic natures. For this reason, Pisceans can be hard to pin down, prompting some to call them the chameleons of the Zodiac. The Fish are happy to be considered hazy, since there’s a certain sense of safety in that self-proclaimed netherworld. That said, they won’t stay away for long, since one of their primary goals is to help others. Pisceans are compassionate, charitable and will quickly put the needs of others ahead of their own. It’s this kind of self-sacrifice which keeps these folks going. The flip side to their giving natures is that oft-timid Fish are likely to be taken advantage of by less well-meaning souls.
